Oh how I just adore this time of year. Thanksgiving included. For Jordan and I, Thanksgiving day means Grandma’s homemade noodles and oven-roasted turkey in a small, square mile Indiana town. Those freshly harvested, dusty corn fields, warm country quilts, and plethora of handmade pies create a rather Norman Rockwell setting that we look forward to every year. Not to mention, of course, that we just love the company. Simply the perfect place for a Thanksgiving feast, paired with the childlike anticipation of knowing that Christmas music can soon after begin.
This time of year always comes so excitedly and yet unexpectedly. Another year on which to reflect. Another celebration in gratitude over both the heartache and joys of what another year offered. A time where holiday cheer comes in the form of Christmas cards piling in, all hung by a windowsill with clothespins on a string, reminding us how little ones have grown or of friends that have moved. A photograph to send a warm hello from one family to the next, reminding us that the relationships of those we keep close are really what matters. So much more so than burdening shopping lists or to-be-broken new years resolutions. Those photographs become little nuggets of meaning that bless the homes of those to whom they are sent, not to mention the storybook marker they become as they are hung proudly over your own fireplace.
