I get it. Photographs taken of yourself can be awkward. Am I supposed to just look at the camera? What do I do with my hands? Will you tell me if there’s hair covering my eyes or am I supposed to worry about that? Mom… I am smiling.
While, I must admit that I certainly love the challenge of helping someone feel at ease in front of the camera, and ultimately loving how they look once the anticipated gallery of photographs arrives, having your picture taken is much like entering into adulthood. You won’t know exactly how you look until looking back, and mom will always be there prompting you to give it your best. So here’s to “picture day” and every other moment that may subtly remind you that you don’t need to know everything all at once. You just need to live in confidence, yet humble enough to let others guide you, and always remember that Mom wants to see you smile.
